This Just In: Taliban Will Be Defeated

At some point, according to Rumsfeld. I'm glad this Administration does the job quick and effectively.

Really, it is beyond my comprehension why we are even discussing the Taliban beyond slight historical references FIVE YEARS after 9-11! I think Rumsfeld should be given some award for his prompt undertaking of this matter.

well why cant we discuss them - after all the people that create unrest in afghanistan now are the same people that were fought in the war.

The point is, Rumsfeld and the Bush Administration said they were going to defeat the Taliban in 2001. The Taliban's capabilities were fairly primitive compared to U.S. capabilities. It shouldn't have taken five years to "defeat the Taliban". My only explanation is incompetence on Rumsfeld's part as well as Tommy Franks. I'm pretty convinced that history will judge those two as failures.
